Scott S. Spiegel

Boulder

Boulder resident Scott Samuel Spiegel passed away May 3rd, 2026. He was 71.

Born March 5th, 1955, in Chicago, IL, to parents Stanley and Frances Green Spiegel, Scott grew up in The Windy City. He graduated from Evanston Township High School (Evanston, IL) before studying at Kendall College (Chicago, IL). In 1978, Scott moved to Boulder in order to cope with some health problems and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Throughout his self-employed career, Scott worked with many environmental non-profit companies.

Scott’s brother, Bill, remembers him as an advocate for what he believed in, especially with regard to the environment, and that he always spoke up for his beliefs. Scott is also remembered as a phenomenal friend and night owl: Each night, he wrote emails to all his friends to make sure they could wake up to a message; further, he absolutely never missed an opportunity to send cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and occasions of every kind. Whether fighting for environmental causes or expressing his friendship, Scott lived a life of caring commitment.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Stanley Spiegel, Scott is survived by his brother, William Spiegel (spouse Joelle) of Chicago; his nephew, Zev Spiegel of Boston, MA; and his niece, Talia Spiegel of Los Angeles, CA.

The Spiegel Family will hold a small, private celebration of Scott’s life and expresses thanks for all your heartfelt words and loving remembrances. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center (rmpjc.org). Scott will certainly be missed.
