August 26, 1941 — April 24, 2024

Wesminster

Rodney James Bellows went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2024.

Rod, or as many would call him, “RJ”, was born on August 26th, 1941, to Sam and Nellie Bellows in the state of Illinois.  He has two older brothers, Preston and Lyle (who passed away at age 20), and an older sister, Carol.  A chance meeting in Skokie’s Marshall Field’s cafeteria one day led to a beautiful 54-year marriage to Sue Bellows.  Rod and Sue married in 1965 and moved to Boulder, Colorado.  Tarnie was born in 1969, and Trevor was born in 1972.  Rod worked as a stockbroker until 2004.  The Bellows family enjoyed camping, skiing, and four-wheeling together.  Rod was a good golfer and enjoyed long bike rides, often with Sue as long as they stopped for a wonderful breakfast.  In their retirement years, Rod and Sue traveled often and hit every continent, including the South Pole!  Duke, their beloved chocolate golden doodle arrived in 2017.  Sue reasoned that if Rod got a new car, she would get a new dog!   Duke saw Sue through her cancer battle, and Rod through his dementia battle.

Rod is survived by his son Trevor, his wife Amy, and their daughters, Rae Ann and Ashlie.   Also by his daughter Tarnie, her husband Michael, and their daughter Maisie, and son Tavin.  His family, including his brother, sister, and sister-in-law, Patsy Lavay, love him dearly.  He is a bright light in his family and close friends’ lives.  We all thank the Lord that he was our father, our grandfather, and our friend.
