Robert Frank Zegarelli "Ziggy" died peacefully January 26, 2015 at home, after a 2 year struggle with bone cancer. He was born on August 21, 1951 in Utica, New York to Francesco and Loretta Zegarelli. After graduating from John F Kennedy High School, where he was voted "Mr. Nice Guy", he served in the Navy as an electronics technician in Hawaii, and lateron a destroyer in Vietnam.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at The Wildfower Pavillion, Planet Bluegrass, 500 West Main Street, Lyons, CO. The Service will include Military honors from the Navy of theUnited States.
On a road trip to California in 1970 to seek employment, Ziggy saw the Flatirons, declared that this was where he wanted to live, and found a job that very day. After managing and cooking in various restaurant kitchens including The Sink and JJ McCabes, he began his career in the computer field at Ball. Over the years he has worked for several firms, including Exabyte, Seagate, Symantec, and Spectralogic.
Ziggy loved music, and attended many concerts in Boulder and the mountains. He and his wife, Dana met at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and married in August of 1996. They shared a love of good food, traveling, skiing, bike riding, and music. He was a thoughtful, loving husband who did most of the cooking, and won over everyone with his spectacular Italian feasts.
He will be greatly missed by his friends, co-workers and family including: his wife, Dana Flitcraft; his son, Christian Moore; his daughter and husband, Kyra and Chandler Holt, and their son, Charlie; his sister and husband, Cynthia and Pete DeCesare; his brother and wife, Ralph and Lucille Zegarelli; and many nieces and nephews.
