Mary Jean Johnson

Mary Jean Johnson of Eldorado Springs, age 79, passed peacefully on May 4th 2016. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born December 27, 1936 in Fort Collins, Colorado to William and Katherine Robinson. Her early childhood was spent in Fort Collins, West Virginia, Virginia, Brooklyn New York and the family homestead in Eldorado Springs. Mary attended the one room school in Eldorado Springs through grade 8 and attended high school in Fort Collins. Mary received a BA in teaching from Western State College. Mary married Gordon Russell Johnson, of Denver Colorado, December 13th 1960. Together they had two sons and one daughter. Mary was a homemaker for many years before working for the Golden Public Library until her retirement in the early 1990's. Mary was an avid reader and loved to spend time in the Colorado outdoors. Mary loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure. Mary is survived by her two sons, Eric Johnson and Gordon Johnson, daughter Cynthia Tetley and two granddaughters Shawna Johnson and Cassidy Vanoni. Mary's ashes will be laid to rest alongside her husbands at the family ranch in Eldorado Springs.
