Margaret George

November 30, 1916 — May 13, 2014

Jeannette G. George, 97, of Boulder, CO, died at her home Tuesday, May 13th, 2014. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1419 Pine Street, Boulder, on Sunday, May 18 at 2:30p.m. Interment will be in the church's columbarium. Reception to follow in the church hall. Jeannette was born March 24, 1917 in New Windsor, MD to George C. and Edna S. (Buckey) Gorsuch. She received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD in 1937. She married William Donovan George in 1939 at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. The family moved to Boulder in 1954 as a part of the relocation of the laboratories of the National Bureau of Standards. Her husband, Don, died in a car accident on a business trip to Switzerland in 1963. Jeannette loved people, travels and flowers. She traveled extensively to all parts of the world. She hosted foreign students and was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church, AAUW, and Questers International. She was involved with the landscaping of the Boulder Dushanbe Tea House by the Rose Society. She belonged to the Ikebana International Chapter 66 in Denver, the Boulder Valley Rose Society, and was an important member of the Boulder Garden Club for 60 years. She is survived by: Sons, William Donovan George, Suffolk, VA, Michael Julian George, Suffolk, VA, Gary Buckey George (Roselle), Potomac, MD; Daughter, Diane Jeannette Tunnell (Ron), Monroe, WA; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren. Her children want to acknowledge her wonderful caregivers: Vonda Neely, Kathy Argenta, and Rita Cray.
