Lucille Mary Mannion

November 30, 1940 — April 19, 2017

Lucille Mary “Lucy” Monette Mannion of Boulder died peacefully at her home on April 19, 2017, from lung cancer. She was 76.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception at the church. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery next to her husband at 2:15 PM.

Lucy was born January 8, 1941, in Schenectady, New York, the youngest child of Clifford Joseph and Bernadette Primeau Monette.

Lucy graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady, NY. She received her BS Degree in Education from Cortland State Teachers College, NY, and a Masters in Education from the University of Colorado. She worked several years teaching Elementary Education in Schenectady and Boulder. While in Colorado she met her future husband, Robert Mannion. They were married in December 1965 and have lived in Boulder ever since.

Along with parenting, Lucy was active in the Boulder Valley Pony Club with her daughter, and learned to handle driving a horse trailer – quite the feat for a city girl. Lucy was employed in her husband’s various restaurants doing bookkeeping, payroll and designing menus. Her spare time was filled as a property manager for their various rentals, and as a consultant for the Colorado Dept. of Education.

A life-long Catholic, Lucy was an active member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Boulder, and sang in their choir for decades. She also was part of a group that sang “the old songs” at various nursing and retirement facilities in the area.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, and her sister.

Lucy is survived by her 3 children, Adam Mannion of Boulder; Mary Mannion of Boulder; and Wendy Schott (Ron) of Boulder; along with 4 grandchildren, Brian Mannion; Skye Mannion; Jaden Schott; and Dylan Schott. She is also survived by a brother, Clifford Monette of Lafayette.
