Linda Marie Abrams

September 14, 1946 — September 16, 2024

Louisville

My wife, Linda Marie Abrams was born on September 14, 1946, in Trenton, NJ, to George Walley and Isabelle Poinsett Walley. Linda passed away on September 16, 2024, leaving behind our two cats – Kia and Achilles – and me.

I met Linda on our first day working for Neodata Services. After a romantic proposal from me at Weberg’s Furniture parking lot in Denver, we were married on May 6, 1977, across from the Boulder Court House. The entire ceremony was 45 seconds long and would have been a few seconds longer, but Linda crossed out the word “obey”.

Linda’s career was mostly in data processing as a database administrator with her major employers being Neodata Services and First Data Corp.

Linda’s one true love was cats –we had three sets during our lives, all siblings. When I went for allergy tests, Linda told me, if it is cats, you need to decide. The cats are staying. When her health began declining in 2023, her cardiologist asked if she was still enjoying life. She replied that she enjoyed her cats and her husband in that order.

She was extremely intelligent and well educated. She graduated from Douglass College (Rutgers) and earned her Master’s in Latin from the University of Colorado.

Besides cats, she loved art, going to the musicals at the DCPA, listening to old Frank Sinatra songs, watching the Equalizer (and wanting to own everything that Queen Latifah wore) going out for weekend breakfasts, and dabbled in stained glass making, macrame, gardening, cooking, and even had a stint at motorcycle lessons.

Please join me for a reception at Linda’s favorite place on earth - The Wild Animal Sanctuary 999 County Road 53 Keenesburg, CO 80643 on Sunday, October 27, from 1 pm-4 pm.

Contributions in her name can be made to the Longmont Humane Society or The Wild Animal Sanctuary.

I owe her my life and will never forget all she did for me. In her name, please hug a loved one, a friend, or a cat.

Her loving husband, Bob.
