James Anthony Medina, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on December 26, 1956, in Brighton, Colorado, he was the son of Horacio and Isabel Medina.

Jimmy grew up in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School in 1975. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and serving in Okinawa. He was always proud of his time in the Marines and his service as a veteran.

After retirement, Jimmy lived in Frankfort, South Dakota, for 20 years. The friends he made there became like family, and those relationships were a meaningful and treasured part of his life.

Jimmy was a hardworking man who spent much of his career as a journeyman millwright. He also had a passion for karate, earning his black belt and later sharing his knowledge and love of the sport by teaching at Mile High Karate.

One of Jimmy’s greatest passions was classic cars. He loved attending car shows and sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for the cars he admired. Some of his favorite memories were made at the Ol’ Marais River Run Car Show in Ottawa, Kansas, with his granddaughters, teaching them about classic cars and sharing something he loved with them.

Jimmy was a caring man who took the time to talk with anyone and was always willing to help others. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He cherished the unique relationships he shared with each of his grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments.

Jimmy also had an incredibly special love for his dogs, Remi and Kaito. They were beloved members of his family and an important part of his everyday life. He loved caring for them, spending time with them, and simply having them by his side. Their love and companionship brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacio and Isabel Medina; his brother, Gilbert Medina; his paternal grandparents, Juan and Maclovia Medina; and his maternal grandparents, Felix Zuniga and Rosie Cepeda.

He is survived by his daughter, Danita Price of Ottawa, Kansas; his son, James Medina and his wife, Mary Brunet, of Oregon City, Oregon; his brother, Robert Medina of Brighton, Colorado; his sister, Lorieann Holman of Brighton, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Paige Price, Sadie Price, Natalie Price, James Medina, and Tristan Medina.

Jimmy will be remembered for his caring heart, willingness to help others, pride in serving his country, love of classic cars and karate, and unconditional love for his family, friends, and dogs.

His love, kindness, friendship, and the memories he gave his family will live on forever.
