Jack C. Lippoldt, 86, a resident of Boulder since 1970, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at TRU Community Care in Louisville.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Spice Event Center, 5706 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, CO 80303.
Jack was born on January 17, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas to Maurice Lippoldt and Iva Mae Smock. In 1945, Jack led his Salina high school basketball team to the State High School Championship where he was named to the all-state team. He graduated from Salina High School in 1945. Jack attended the University of Kansas and played basketball. Jack then joined the United States Navy and sailed around the world post WWII.
Jack married Janice J. Glidden on June 7, 1949. Jack and Janice were about to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary. They lived in Salina, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas before moving to Boulder in 1970. Jack was a general contractor and developer and built approximately 400 homes in the Boulder area before retiring in 1982.
Along with skiing, hiking and fishing, Jack also loved golf, gambling and travel. He also loved playing cards and having morning coffee with his friends. In recent years, he spent much time attending his grandchildren's sports and school activities. He always had such a generous heart and everyone else's best interest in mind. His honor, integrity and ethics defined him along with his sense of humor.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard F. Lippoldt and his eldest daughter Linda Kay Lippoldt Freeby.
Jack is survived by his wife Janice of Boulder, CO; son Lynn Lippoldt (Dianne) of Erie, CO; daughters Kris Lippoldt of Louisville, CO and Kim Ray (Tom) of Superior, CO; grandchildren Jacqueline and Tyler Henderson; step-grandchildren Jennifer McManus (Shawn), Devin and Jenny Ray.
