Helen Marie MacDonald

Helen Marie MacDonald,85, was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Arthur and Helen (Salg) Kneessy. She grew up in Rosedale, Queens, New York, and attended Far Rockaway High School and State University of New York, Plattsburgh. graduating with a B.A. in Education. She met Albert Jacobsen when both were teaching at East Meadow High School on Long Island; they married and moved to Longmont, Colorado where they started their life, family, and careers as teachers. After Albert’s untimely death from cancer in 1970, Helen returned to college and earned an M.A. in Education from CSU. In 1973 she married Roland “Mac” MacDonald and they moved to Boulder where she taught Home Economics at Nevin Platte Junior High. Helen finished her career with 17 years at Louisville Middle School teaching Home Economics and then 6^th grade Science. 

Helen and Mac were avid travelers, members of Denver’s elite travel club, Ports-of-Call, and enjoyed many travels and family adventures together. Helen was an active member of the community, volunteering at church, Meals on Wheels, and the local chapter of the Ladies Elks. She had many hobbies including sewing, crafting, and bingo and was an expert "sweeper," making a living out of Winning! She made friends wherever she went and was the original networker. 

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her children Karen (David) Lamar, Christian Jacobsen, Erika (Loren) Jacobsen-Floming, Linda Nikkel, Judy (Fred) Stahlbush, David (Doris) MacDonald, Doug (Sharon) MacDonald, and Barbara (Luke) Froelich; her sister Arthel Weibezahl, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She had a deep love for her pets throughout life, most recently her special fur babies Rousy and Pookie. She was predeceased by her husband Mac, father Arthur, mother Helen, and brother Art, grandchildren Jonathan MacDonald and Matthew Petersen.

Please join us in honoring and celebrating Helen’s life on Saturday, April 6^th at 10:30 am at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church 506 Via Appia Way, Louisville, CO 80027.

Reception and lunch to follow at 12 noon, Tri-City Elks Lodge, 525 Main St, Louisville, CO 80027.

Contributions can be made to Christ the Servant Lutheran Church who will collect and distribute to Helen’s passionate causes ~ Viltalant and Meals On Wheels.
