Fritz Satterley, 86, of Boulder, Colorado, passed away on August 9, 2024. Born in Madison, WI, to Carl and Frieda Regenberg, she grew up in Maple Bluff and developed a lifelong passion for sports, particularly swimming, diving, and later, college football and basketball.
A graduate of Wisconsin High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Prospect Hall Secretarial School in Milwaukee. She worked as a secretary for General Electric, where she met her future husband, Dave Satterley. They married on July 14, 1962, and moved to Boulder in 1969 following the birth of their son, Philip.
Fritz was a committed political activist, serving as National Committeewoman of the Wisconsin Federation of Young Republicans. In Boulder, she held leadership roles including President of the Boulder Forum of Republican Women and Vice Chair of the Boulder County Republicans, contributing to numerous campaigns at all levels of government. Professionally, she worked at the University of Colorado's Alumni Center and the CU Foundation’s fundraising division.
Civically engaged, Fritz served five years on the Boulder Board of Zoning Adjustment and volunteered for CU’s Conference on World Affairs. Known as the “Mayor of Her Street,” she worked closely with city officials to improve her neighborhood.
She was an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in Michigan, a longtime CU football fan, and a past president of the Buffalo Belles. Her interests included Latin jazz, classic movies, and PBS programs. Her humor and vibrant personality were well-known, famously described as "having her own zip code."
Fritz was preceded in death by her husband, Dave (2015), daughter, Annalyse Emily, and her brothers Bob, Chuck, and Kurt. She is survived by her son Philip, daughter-in-law Andrea of Aurora, Colorado, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Fritz’s life will be held Sat. May 3rd at 3:00 PM at Westview Lutheran Church, 6710 Arapahoe, Boulder, CO 80303. Reception following at the Boulder Cork.
