Fredrick McClory

Fredrick “Fred” McClory of Boulder died November 4, 2015 at Golden West. He was 89. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302. Fred was born April 7, 1926 to Henry and Elfrida McClory of Chicago, IL. He graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, IL and then attended A & M University in Monticello, Arkansas where he majored in Civil Engineering. On April 30, 1960 Fred married Kay Smith in Chicago, Illinois. They have been married for 55 years. Fred worked as a structural engineer, designing layouts and detailing structural steel. Fred was active in veteran’s affairs, he is a past Commander of the American Legion and maintains a membership in the Navy League. Fred also served as Village Clerk in Morton Grove, Illinois for several terms from 1969 until 1973. He holds a lifetime membership with Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. and has been recognized for more than 50 years of membership and faithful service as a master mason. In addition, Fred was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America in Morton Grove, Illinois and is a member with the American Concrete Institute and the Waste Water Management Association. On January 8, 1944 Fred enlisted in the United States Navy V12 Unit at A & M College in Monticello, Arkansas, he then went on to the Navy Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois and Navy Training School in Rhode Island. Fred was stationed on a Navy Hospital Ship the USS Benevolence (AH134) in the South Pacific, which was one of first ships in Tokyo Bay on August 29, 1945. On May 25, 1946 Fred received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife Kay McClory of Boulder; his daughter Debra (John) Frame of Springboro, OH; his two sons Fred McClory Jr of Dubuque, IA and Robert (Inge) McClory and of Boulder, CO; and two grandchildren Lukas and Madelen. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elfirda McClory and his sister Madelyn McClory. Contributions: Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80302. .
