Floyd R. O'Kelly, Jr., 86, of Broomfield, died on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at his son Patrick's residence in Broomfield. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver at 1:30 p.m. at Staging Area B. Floyd was born on February 9, 1927 in Kingsville, Texas to Floyd R. and Mary E. (Hargis) O'Kelly. He graduated from High School in Ballinger, TX before receiving his B.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso. Floyd married Gloria Jean Upton in Midland, TX. They spent several years in Houston, TX before moving to Colorado over 40 years ago. Floyd spent his career as a Geophysicist in the oil exploration business. He also served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. Floyd is survived by his son Patrick A. O'Kelly (Laura) of Broomfield, CO; 4 grandchildren Kristen Cochran (Don), Kara O'Kelly, Michael O'Kelly and Matthew O'Kelly; and 1 great-grandchild Hazel Cochran. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Mary O'Kelly; his wife Gloria in 1984 and his son Michael T. O'Kelly in 2004.
