Elizabeth Thompson

Joanie Thompson passed peacefully on December 3rd, 2020. This amazingly vibrant woman was born on August 24th, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Thompson, son, Rusty White and his wife Ginny (Mitchell), daughter, Kathy Pecsar and her husband Jeff, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three loving cousins, Bill Stone, Kim Moore and Jim Stone and brother in law, Steve Thompson. Joanie moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1960 where she quickly immersed herself in the Boulder Civic Opera as an actor and director. Soon she found her love of teaching and was fondly known as ‘Mrs. T.’ by her drama students at Platt Junior High where she taught speech and drama in addition to directing numerous plays and musicals. After retiring from teaching she rediscovered her talent and love for bridge and became a tournament life master. She also enjoyed golf but would never consider herself a life master in that sport. Bill and Joanie moved to Arizona in 2000 and built a house in Sun City Grand where Joanie once again enjoyed performing and directing. She also played ping pong! She may not have been a grand master at ping pong but more so ping pong than golf. The two of them soon became disenchanted with the Arizona summers so after 10 years Bill and Joanie were happy to come back to Colorado. She is remembered for her sense of humor, sass and love for those around her. Joanie believed in angels and we know she is at peace, watching over all who loved her.
