Eldon Christopher

November 30, 1923 — March 22, 2013

Eldon "Chris" Christopher, a resident of Boulder since 1996, died peacefully Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Boulder. A Celebration of Chris's Life will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Chautauqua Community House, 900 Baseline Road, Boulder. A private family service, including military honors for both Chris and his wife Mae Evelyn Christopher (also a Navy veteran), will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO on Friday, March 29, 2013. Chris was born on August 9, 1924 in Kit Carson, Colorado to Charles and Chlora (Chase) Christopher. He spent most of his youth in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chris graduated from Lincoln Central High School and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. Chris enlisted in the United States Navy and served domestically until 1942. Shortly thereafter he married Mae Evelyn Aird of Morgan Park, Minnesota and their marriage became a celebration of mutual love that spanned 64 wonderful years until the death of his beloved partner in October, 2010. Chris worked in various levels of management for Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas and Morton, Pennsylvania for 35 years. He eventually became the first Ombudsman for the Boeing Company and held that position until retiring in 1983. He was also the President of the local chapter of WOFTDA's. His primary love and continued focus was always with family and they became his constant source of joy. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend to the many people he connected with through his simple, yet welcoming manner. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and a kind word for all. Chris was someone you would pick as your friend and his ability to nurture and sustain friendships enriched his life and so many others. We are honored to have him as a father. He is survived by his children, Craig and Marcus Christopher of Boulder, CO, and Gary Christopher of Downingtown, PA; Daughters-in-law Debra Christopher and Maryanne Christopher. He has two grandchildren, Jordan Christopher and Nicolas Christopher and a granddog, Jaz.
