Edith Swanson

November 30, 1932 — November 28, 2020

Edith Cora Rogers Swanson July 26, 1933-November 28, 2020 Edith Cora Rogers Swanson, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on November 28, 2020, at Covenant Living, Westminster, CO. She was born on July 26, 1933, in Dubuque, IA to Albert L. Rogers and Lydia Albrecht Rogers. Edith attended Rapid City High School in Rapid City, SD. Always one to love the outdoors, she enjoyed spelunking with a church group in the Black Hills when she was out of high school. That enjoyment of being outdoors led her to share tent camping adventures along with almost weekly picnics with her four children – Mark, Rebecca, Bethany, and Sonja. For over two decades she worked as a bookkeeper for different organizations in the Denver-Boulder area. Employees at Denver’s Plasticrafts, Sherwin Williams in Boulder, and Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge benefitted from her bookkeeping skills. Edith’s primary devotion was in raising her four children as a single mother all the while supporting them in their various activities. A woman of strong faith, she enjoyed singing in Lutheran and Covenant church choirs in South Dakota and Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia and Albert Rogers, step-mother Ragnhild Rogers, her sister Dorothy Mehder, and a son Bruce. Edith is survived by son Mark (Connie) Swanson, Dewittville, NY, daughters Rebecca (Steve) Enlow of Wheat Ridge, CO, Bethany Swanson of Westminster, CO, Sonja Swanson of Thornton, CO, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include brothers David (Jan) Rogers of Erie, CO, Paul (Camille) Rogers, Minneapolis, MN, and sister, Eunice Vigil, Bloomfield, NM. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Erie, CO on December 11. Chaplain Kay Sorvik of Covenant Living (formerly Covenant Village) will officiate. A celebration of life service is planned for a later date. The family requests that any memorial contributions in Edith’s name be made to the Benevolent Fund, Covenant Living of Colorado, 9153 Yarrow Street, Westminster, CO 80021.
