Carol Anne Hight

November 30, 1939 — October 14, 2014

Carol Anne Hight passed away on October 14, 2014 at Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge after battling uterine cancer. She resided in Westminster, after formerly living in Boulder for 35 years with her beloved husband, James. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, 350 Main st. A reception will follow the service at the church. After graduating from Springfield (IL) High School, she studied at William Woods College in Fulton, MO. She married James B. Hight in Springfield, IL in 1961. James and Carol moved from Houston to Boulder for Jim to go to work at the Denver Dry Goods in 1963. Eventually, she settled into a career in textiles, co-owning Hight’s Linen Closet with her husband. Carol loved to play golf throughout much of her adult life, and she adored hiking, especially once moving to Boulder. She also loved her Broncos, playing cards with her friends, and attending book club. Carol was known as a caring woman. She had the ability to care for others in her circle of friends. Her charisma was contagious...it drew people towards her. She knew how to have fun and enjoy time together. She could get fired up at times, but most of her days were about enjoying people and always hoping family and friends would find happiness. In the latter years of her life, being a Grandma was one of her proudest moments/joys. The grandkids were her energy, when strength dwindled. From being there when they were born, to attending sporting/musical/dance events, helping guide the older ones through the beginning of their teen years, she tried to make family a priority. She has been an absolute selfless spouse, in the fact she never thought twice about caring for Jim, since his stroke in 1996. As a mother, she was always willing to lend a listening ear to all of her daughters as she became more of a friend over the latter years than a mom. Little did she know how much wisdom she bestowed on all of us. She was a survivor and never gave up the fight until the very end, but she knew when the fight was over. God bless her. We will miss her immensely, but we know she is at rest and peace, celebrating with others that have passed before her. Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Ann Skinner in December of 2007. Survivors are Husband, James B. Hight of Westminster, CO; two daughters, Lorri Lynn DeLaney of Broomfield, CO and Kristin (Jim) Hight Bartuska of Littleton, CO and 4 grandchildren; Zachery and Jaime DeLaney and Riley and Joel Bartuska. Contributions: American Cancer Society, 2255 S. Oneida St. Denver, CO 80224 or Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, 350 Main St. Broomfield, CO 80020.
