Anne Blakey Clarke Tobin passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado.
Born on June 14, 1954, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Jean Blakey Clarke and Thomas Richard David Clarke, Anne spent her early years in Virginia, where her intellect and determination first took shape. She graduated from West Springfield High School in Springfield, Virginia, where she participated actively in school life, including baton twirling. Anne earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with distinction, from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, entering the university only two years after it became coeducational.
Drawn to the beauty of the Front Range, Anne made her home in Boulder, Colorado, in 1976, where she would remain for the rest of her life. It was in Boulder that Anne met and fell in love with David Tobin, whom she married on October 11, 1980, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Anne became a mother in 1989 and 1991 with the births of her daughters, Molly and Katie. Her family was the central joy of her life, and she devoted herself to supporting and loving those closest to her.
In 1993, Anne joined her husband in a professional partnership at the Dark Horse Bar & Grill, where she played an essential role for more than thirty years. She was known for her steady presence and thoughtful care.
In her life beyond work, Anne enjoyed gardening, where she found a close connection to nature and a deep appreciation for its beauty. She was an avid reader who valued continual learning and took great satisfaction in teaching herself new skills. She enjoyed walks with her dog alongside friends and regular visits to plays, museums, and other cultural pursuits with her family.
Anne is remembered as a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. Her brilliance, humor, generosity of spirit, and enduring light will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, David Tobin; her daughters, Molly Anne Tobin and Kathryn Jean Tobin (Forrest Peterman); her brothers, Tom Clarke (Sharon), Tim Clarke, Mike Clarke (Kathy), and Rick Clarke (Ariana); her sister, Jeanne Clarke (Hung Louie); and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
The family invites you to an Open House and Celebration of Anne’s Life between 1:00-4:00 P.M., with a time of reflection at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Carelli’s of Boulder Ristorante Italiano, 645 30th Street, Boulder, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation in Anne’s name to One Tree Planted (onetreeplanted.org), an organization whose mission reflects her love of nature, or to a charitable organization of the donor’s choosing.
